Issue II-4&5

Issue II-4 has reached European subscribers by now and should fall on the mat of worldwide subscribers any day now. At our office work is in full swing on II-5, which focusses on warfare in the Ancient Near East. Chronologically this issue will offer the greatest range yet, from the dawn of historical warfare to (in a special) the invasion of Britain by the Angles and Saxons. Issue II-5 will go into print late September and should reach subscribers in mid October. It should contain a nice surprise as well, so make sure you get it!

Podcast 4

Normally we would have published our new podcast by now: it usually more or less coincides with the publication date of the related issue. We always record these in the weekend, very early in the morning or late at night: I'm never at the office anyway. Since I've just moved and will only get internet access at home this weekend, that has been a bit difficult recently. We'll try to record the new podcast as soon as possible!

Affiliate program

We'd like the whole world to link to us. More specifically, we'd like everyone who has a website about any aspect of warfare in the ancient world to link to us. To encourage you to do so, we're instituting an affiliate program. What that means is basically the following: you link to us with a special link. As soon as someone using that link buys anything on our site, we set aside 5% for you. In other words: sell 20 subscriptions to Ancient Warfare per year and your own subscription is free! If you're interested in taking part, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The program will go live on October 1st.

Online interviews

From September I'm going to publish interviews with authors, reenactors, wargamers and others on my blog. Hopefully I'll manage to put one up every week. What I need from you guys is suggestions. Who would you like to see interviewed?

New payment method

Although online payments through PayPal or Multipay are quite safe, we realize that some of you prefer to only give out your credit card data to a human on the phone or on an actual paper form. Well, now you can! Simply select 'Credit card offline' as your payment method and transmit your credit card data by phone, fax or snail mail. If you must use email, split your number over at least two emails.

Romanarmytalk conference

The community at Romanarmytalk is hosting its 3rd annual Romanarmytalk conference. The location this time is Mainz, Germany, at the heart of a region full of Roman army related museums. Check out this thread for more information.

Themes of 2009

From the comments of my recent blog post about the themes of 2009 I have distilled a range of possibilities. These have now been entered into a poll so that you can give your opinion. Let me know which themes you'd like to see in 2009 and I'll try to make the winners a reality.

Artwork prints

I've uploaded another poll. Let us know whether you'd like to see prints of the artwork that has appeared in past issues of Ancient Warfare.
