TOPIC: Chronology
#955
Chronology 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
The podcast brought up issues of chronology, which deserves clarification:

According to the chronology of the late Republican antiquarian Varro (the Varronian chronology) Rome was sacked in 390 BC.

However, from the historian Polybius, who is using more reliable Greek chronology, Rome was sacked in 387.

While the Polybian date is preferable, the Varronian date is canonical.
