AW II - 6: "Coinage and cavalry" 1 Year, 7 Months ago
as a Gallic emperors coin collector (with a special interest for Postumus and the Aureolus issues)I liked the article from Mr. Campbell. Interesting hypothesis that Aureolus issue was to celebrate the Horse guards.

I'm already looking a long time for the articles cited by Mr. Campbell; especially the article from A. Alfoldi. Unfortunately I haven't been able to track down a copy of Zeitschrift fur Numismatik 37.
Can somebody help me?

Many thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Jos

P.s. Enclosed a picture of a Aureolus coins in my collection with Fides sitting l., holding patera in r. hand and vertical standard in l. hand.

Hi Jos
Nice coin! According to the KB, the Zeitschrift fur Numismatik is not available in any library in NL, as I'm sure you found out. Have you tried looking for second hand offprints or copies through a search engine such as www.addall.com/used? This seller seems interesting, they offer the ZfN as an E-book: www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetails?bi=1279884663
Now if they only gave you the option to select the issue, $9.99 is not bad!

Hello Jasper,

thanks for your reaction.
Yes I already found out that it isn't available in NL libaries.
Also I haven't been able to find any second hand offprint or copies on the internet.
The link to abebooks is IMO for the 1892 issue (stated on the right).
Well I just keep on looking and hope I'll find it!

Best,

Jos

Thanks, Jos -- I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I believe the article was reprinted in A. Alföldi, Studien zur Geschichte der Weltkrise des 3. Jahrhunderts nach Christus (Darmstadt, 1967). That might be easier to find.
