"Then the shield-bearers wheeled round and enclosed the light-armed troops within their ranks, dropped down to one knee, and held their shields out as a defensive barrier. The men behind them held their shields over the heads of the first rank, while the third rank did the same for the second rank. The resulting shape, which is a remarkable sight, looks very like a roof, and is the surest protection against arrows, which just glance off it."
Plutarch
I wanted to post an inspirational photo, again from the prolific and talented Dr. Phil Hendry, of an iconic siege formation. The testudo. Designed and employed to protect the legionary from missle weapons, the testudo was often used in Roman seige operations.

I was reading some material from the Internet and I bumped into your blog.
I created a multi player strategy game based on Ancient Greek Battles. I wonder if you want to take a look, maybe play with some friends. Then correct all names and places I got wrong!
You can think of my game as a complex boardgame that is computer assisted. You submit your commands once per week, so it doesn't steal too much from your time...
Let me know if you are interested.
