Last night we recorded the second iteration of the second Podcast show. As I related earlier , Skype and Joe's ISP conspired against us. There was actually also the matter of sound quality on Paul's side as well. Put together, that made us decide to try again.
Last night - for me anyway - things seemed pretty much perfect. Angus, the History Network podcast wizard, had supplied Paul with a new headset. Joe had browbeat his ISP into not disconnecting his broadband connection at the 'moment supreme' and the discussion flowed almost naturally (it'll sound like that when Angus is done editing it anyway). In fact, almost the only thing that went wrong was me butchering Joe's last name. My apologies again! I'd even practised, but maybe that was the problem. No more practicing names in the future.
Anyway, the result of our new discussion should be downloadable for iTunes or the rss-feed in a few days.
When the discussion was over, we mused a little more about Ancient Warfare podcasts in general. I'd like to have shows than just one every other month, to coincide with the magazine theme at that time. Of course there's the idea to have listener's questions - still need some more of those - but someone also tossed up the idea of having prepared debates. Listeners could suggest a topic, I'd go out and find two, or four, people willing to debate various sides to the topics and then we'd do another Skype conference call with an actual Ancient Warfare debate. Sort of 'RAT live '. How does that sound?
