Commentarii

The recent request for reviewers in our newsletter and the News section of Ancient Warfare III.1 seems to have been very well received. That's to say, I've got a lot more interested wanna-be reviewers than books to divide.

For all those prospective reviewers, here's the plan. In addition to the old style reviews in the magazine  (between 300 and 500 words), I'd like to have a long one version of each book of between 800 and 1000 words for the website, although longer is certainly allowed. The short review will really be more of an announcement, first impressions, contents etc. The long review can and should be more analytical. Below is the list of books currently in for review.

If you are interested in reviewing one of the books mentioned, please email me or let me know through the contact form. Please make sure to indicate your areas of expertise (Bronze Age Near East, Celts, Germanic peoples, Sasanians, Parthians, Bronze Age Greece, Classical Greece, Hellenistic World, Republican Rome, Early Imperial Rome, Late Imperial Rome, (war)gaming, modelling) and which languages you comfortably read.

If you have any experience with writing reviews or formal historical training, I'd like to know as well.

As soon as the first reviews are in, I'll start a new page in the 'Magazine' section of this website.
