Since the binders are still in production I can't show you the real thing yet. What I can show is what it'll look like. It's a wraparound of course, so the Roman shield wall will be on the back, the Germanic warrior with his scale armour will be on the spine and his troops on the front. Hope you'll like it. I do!
The artwork is of course by Igor Dzis who widened the painting that was originally printed in Ancient Warfare issue 3 (October/November 2007).

A fine choice of one of the magazine's best illustrations !.....and it's clever the way the 'wraparound' will break up. Great idea!

Hi Jasper, I must agree with Paul, the design is excellent and it should keep the books in good order seeing that my issue 3 already have water damage. Unbelieveable but I received it drenched in my postbox, I am lucky enough to have my box on the lower row and a "flash flood" from a downpour washed past the boxes and actually penetred some, including mine. The wrapping around the magazine was torn so some water got in, perhaps consider using a thicker wrapper as well and stamp in BIG letter "Do not fold" as this will also help protect the magazines before they go into the binder.
Enough complaints from me
brilliant reading material as always, even my 1 year old sone kind of gestured to me in his baby language that he also want to "read" the magazine ... that's one way to make sure everyone will have it to read as it will be in a million pices ..

I love it. Just love it. The artwork within the magazine is of a very high standard and I thoroughly enjoy the pieces it features. This work in particular was notably beautiful to me.
The Late Roman/Romano-Byzantine period is pretty much the one that catches my attention the most. I've craved seeing illustrations just like this and when I read my Ancient Warfare magazines I always end up back at this art. This illustration is just simply beautiful. It encapsulates the period I love perfectly, but is also a darned fine piece of artwork in it's own right.
It's just a shame the Roman Shieldwall isn't on the front.
For other readers though, it might be nice if there was a choice of artwork, say one for the Greek period, one for Early Imperial Rome, one for the Successors etc etc. While I can understand that you wouldn't be able to cater for literally every era, a small choice of variety might be nice.
On the other hand, presumably the folder illustration for next year will be a different piece of art featuring a different time period? So that variety will appear naturally over time I suppose.
