Ancient Warfare newsletter August 2007. Dear Ancient Warfare enthusiast, Here is the Ancient Warfare newsletter for August 2007. 1. Layout. What's with the layout of the newsletter you ask? Well, since many mail clients automatically block emails with html in them, we have decided to switch everyone to text-only emails. The pretty version is still sent out, but you'll only get it if you expressly sign up for it. Visit your newsletter preferences to update your data. 2. The August/September issue. Issue two is at the printer's now and should be hot off the presses late next week. Distribution starts on the 15th of this month. Check out Delivery times on our FAQ to find out when your copy will reach your doormat. As announced in a previous newsletter, we will be making up some time with the next issues so that Ancient Warfare will actually reach you at the beginning of the first month mentioned on the cover. The cut-off date for new subscriptions for issue two is August 8th. If you're signed up before 12PM Pacific time on that day, we'll still include your copy in the distribution process. 3. 'Pending orders'. If you paid for your subscription, please skip this item. However, if you signed up before July 22nd and for some reason your order was not fully paid up, you still received Ancient Warfare magazine, or it is in the mail with the second batch. We're nice that way. However, if your order is not paid up before August 8th, we will be unable to send out the August/September issue. To check on your order status, login to your account on Ancient-Warfare.com and subsequently click Account Maintenance. Your orders are listed at the bottom of the screen. Please contact us if you have any further questions. 4. The October/November issue. The theme 'Protect thyself' has clearly inspired many prospective authors to send in their proposals. We have made our selection and are currently working hard with authors and illustrators to put together what should become a very interesting issue. A short glimpse of what's going to be in it is already up in the Editorial plan and a longer version will be added soon. 5. Be a general 1. The quiz included in 'Be a General: the Next Alexander' had as its deadline August 1st. Some readers who received their issue in the second batch, could not have read it at that time, so we are postponing the deadline until August 12th. Send in your solution before that time for a chance to win! 5. Group / club offer. Are you a member of a group or club that meets regularly to refight, relive or remodel warfare in the ancient world? We offer considerable discounts for volume (10 or more) subscribers, sent to a single address. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information. 6. Themes. Our readers seem to appreciate the idea of having a number of articles centered around a single theme. Why not suggest themes that really interest you? They can be really wide (Siege Warfare, Religion and Warfare) or really narrow (Hadrian and his army, the campaigns of Cimon). We're eager to hear from you. 7. Single issues. Since yesterday, you can buy single copies of Ancient Warfare from our site as well. If you've missed issue one and are signing up from number two, or if you prefer to buy a copy once in a while if it interests you, you can now order them straight from our site. Alternatively, have a look at our expanding list of retailers and find out where to get a copy near you. 8. Online features. We're going to add some extra features on our site pretty soon. Keep an eye out for things to come! And as always, please do not hesitate to contact us through the form on the site, on the forum at Romanarmy.com, by phone, skype or e-mail. Ancient Warfare can only improve through your suggestions.
