Ancient Warfare newsletter September 2007.
Dear Roman army enthusiasts, Here is the Ancient Warfare newsletter for September 2007.
1. Ancient Warfare October/November. Our designers are busy preparing the third issue, which will go into print in another two weeks. Distribution starts October 10th. The cut-off date for new subscriptions for issue three is October 1st. If you're signed up before 12PM Pacific time on that day, we'll still include your copy in the distribution process. The same goes for pre-ordered single copies. Later orders will have to wait until we receive extra issues at our office.
2. "The Next Alexander" results. Somewhat to the surprise of the jury - consisting of Murray Dahm and the editor - there were no 'correct' solutions (i.e. not along the model provided) to the quiz in Ancient Warfare 1. We therefore decided to award the prize, a copy of Mahon's The Life of Belisarius, introduced by Jon Coulston, to the writer of the most creative solution, George Pittman. His solution can be read on . The prize was graciously made available by Westholme publishing. Budding architecti have until October 1st to send in their solution to "Make Camp" from our August/September issue.
3. Binders. Some of our customers have asked whether magazine binders - in one way or another - will be made available. To be honest, we hadn't considered the option before, but we're happy to oblige. We certainly feel that copies of Ancient Warfare are collectible. What do you think? Let us know through email or express your opinion in the poll on the website.
4. Editorial plan. Our basic time table with themes for next year has been updated. Suggestions for other themes and of course appropriate proposals for articles are welcome. Please use the form on the website or e-mail me at
